Where to Eat with a Scene and Good Food: NYC

by Alyssa Triunfo

These spots might be crowded, but they're always worth the wait.

RUBY'S CAFE

Australian cafe in East Village, Murray Hill, and Soho

Eat

Ruby's Cafe

Typical price per person

$$$$

Super trendy eatery serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere! Famous for their fries but everything on the menu is a home run.

RH ROOFTOP

American spot in the Meatpacking District

Eat

RH Rooftop Restaurant New York

Typical price per person

$$$$

My go-to spot to take visitors. This place is such a vibe in the summertime because of its rooftop patio and stunning views but their food is honestly phenomenal! One of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had and you can’t miss out on their iced matcha latte.

LOLA TAVERNA

Greek restaurant in Soho

Eat

Lola Taverna

Typical price per person

$25-50
$$$$
Lunch Craft Cocktails

I think every time I have eaten here I’ve seen someone famous! This gorgeous restaurant takes up the corner of 6th Ave and Prince Street and is a major celebrity hangout. Don’t be intimidated though because the food/drinks are way too good to pass up!

CROWN SHY

American eatery in the Financial District

Eat

Crown Shy

Typical price per person

$25-50
$$$$
Date Night Fine Dining

I haven’t stopped talking about Crown Shy and their amazing gruyere fritters since I tried them. This is one of my favorites in the fine dining scene! The menu is seasonal and the food is executed perfectly.

BUVETTE

French Restaurant in the West Village

Eat

Buvette

Typical price per person

$25-50
$$$$
Date Night Comfort Food

Would eat here for breakfast everyday if I could. This is my favorite spot for brunch in the city! The space is super quaint and offers authentic French small plates. My must haves: Croques Madame, Jambon Cru, Almond Croissant, Fresh OJ, their lattes are amazing, and the Belgian Waffle.

PLANTA QUEEN

Vegan and 100% Plant-Based Restaurant in Flatiron

Eat

PLANTA Queen | New York

Typical price per person

$$$$

My friend Rae turned me onto this place because I would’ve never voluntarily eaten at a vegan restaurant but I’m so glad I listened to her! Everything on the menu is asian inspired and plant based but you would honestly never know because it’s THAT GOOD. They have everything from watermelon “tuna” sashimi to dumplings to noodles. Don’t sleep on the Bang Bang broccoli!!!

Enjoy!
